8x16 Lean-to Shed - Parr Lumber

The DIY plan by iCreatables is designed to make your shed simple and inexpensive to build. The diagrams are professionally drawn and the step by step instructions will show how to build a shed whether you are an old pro or a first time framer. The materials list is broken down by parts of the shed. For instance, the floor framing plan has all the materials to build the floor listed on the floor framing sheets, and the wall framing has its materials listed on the wall framing sheets.

8x18 Backyard Shed - Parr Lumber

Highlights

  • 2×6 floor joists at 16″ on center with 3/4″ floor sheathing
  • 2×4 wall framing at 16″ on center with a double top plate, just like how a home is framed
  • Lower shed wall height is 7′ 7″, the higher wall is 8′ 10″
  • The lower wall height allows a pre-hung factory built door to go on any wall and reduces the amount of siding and labor needed to build the shed
  • Doors can be a pair of 3068 pre-hung, factory made doors for ease of installation
  • Shed plans include details on how to build optional home-built doors that fit in the 6068 door opening
  • Drawings explaining how to build the door on the end or sides of the shed
  • A single door may be installed if desired
  • Windows can be added on any wall (windows not include in the plans)
  • Textured plywood siding is what is shown on the plans, but you may add or substitute other sidings such as cedar shingles or horizontal lap siding or vinyl siding
  • Roof is framed using 2×6’s to build the rafters and is sheeted with 1/2″ OSB
  • Plans give you a template and dimensions for the birds mouth cut angles
  • 2/12 roof pitch, which means that for every 2″ of rise there is 12″ of run horizontally
  • Roof Overhang: 6″ on the front and back, and 1″ on the sides
  • PBR corrugated metal roofing, which is designed for low slope roofs
  • Trim: 1×4 wood, masonite or cement trim materials are used to finish the corners, roof eves, fascia, and door
  • Floor Load: 50 pounds per square foot for framed floors
  • Roof Snow Load: 40 pounds per square foot (if you live in an area with a high snow load you should check with your local building department for your local snow load)
  • The plans include details on how to build a wood skid foundation
